Bro. Wiley Harris (Papa), of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, December 9, 2024, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born on August 10, 1937, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late L. B. Harris and the late Suzie Hollis Harris. "Papa" loved his family and enjoyed the many times that they shared making those sweet memories. He was a self-employed millwright, welder, farmer and loved sharing the word of God as a preacher. He will be remembered for his kindness and sweet spirit. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ located at 120 Hamer Road in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, December 11,2024, on in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Jerry Stafford, Bro. Ray Winstead, Mr. Billy Bates and Mr. Charles Harris. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Harris will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Bobbie D. Fortner Harris of Newbern, Tennessee; eight daughters, Martha Blevins (Robert) of Newbern, Tennessee, Rachel Climer of Tiptonville, Tennessee, Judy Jones (Gerald) of Murray, Kentucky, Debra Holt of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Doris Blackshear (Tony) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Lisa Harris of Memphis, Tennessee, Bonnie Litton of Georgia and Linda Risa of Washington State; seven sons, Charles Harris (Melody) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, David Harris (Judy) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Marty Harris (Debbie) of Halls, Tennessee, Chris Everitt (Londa) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Brandon Everitt of Washington State, Gene Harris of Georgia and James Cohos of Washington State; four sister Lucille Rasberry of Union City, Tennessee, Peggy Morris of Union City, Tennessee, Linda Fay Craig of Tipton County, Tennessee, Judy Lane Miland of Alaska and five brothers, Paul Harris of Memphis, Tennessee, Tom Harris of Martin, Tennessee, Ronnie B. Harris of Camden, Tennessee. Paul Edward Harris of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Johnny Harris; forty-five grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Minnie Gray and Angie Sharp and two sons-in-laws, Dewayne Climer and Mike Headley and one daughter-in-law, Dina Harris: three grandchildren, Little David Harris, Johnathan Jackson, Cody Blackshear and one granddaughter, Ann Harris.
Honoring Mr. Harris as pallbearers will be Jacob Headley, Cody Winchester, James Hightower, Brodie Everitt, Tim Brewer and Brian Jackson.
