Briggs Sanford, 88, of Yorkville, Tennessee died on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford, Mississippi.
Born Sunday, September 3, 1933 in Friendship, Tennessee, he was the son of the late William Virgil "W.V." Sanford and the late Virgie Mae Jones Sanford. Mr. Sanford was a self-employed carpenter, former Yorkville Fire Department Chief and member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Sanford will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2021 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Dr. Rick Isbell. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery in Yorkville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM both at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-seven years, Louetta Isbell Sanford of Yorkville, Tennessee; one son, Frankie Sanford (Angela) of Yorkville, Tennessee; two daughters, Pam Locker (Rick) of Yorkville, Tennessee and Shawn Burns (Kenneth) of Paris, Tennessee; one brother, James Sanford (Louise) of Yorkville, Tennessee; two sisters, Margie Oakley of Portageville, Missouri and Linda Muncell (Larry) of Dallas, Texas; he was "PawPaw" to his six grandchildren, Javan Wheatley, Britni Cunningham, Dustin Sanford, Blake Burns, Megan Sanford and Amber Burns and his ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis "Buddy" Sanford, Harris Sanford and Junior Sanford and one sister, Marie Nelson.
Honoring Mr. Sanford as pallbearers will be Dustin Sanford, Blake Burns, Javan Wheatley, Colton Wheatley, Stan Sims and Chris Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be James Sanford and Frankie Sanford.
