Brian Scott Peevyhouse

Brian Scott Peevyhouse, 51, of Newbern, Tennessee, died on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his residence.

Born on January 31, 1975, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Joe Peevyhouse and Hilda Chipman Peevyhouse.

Brian will be remembered first and foremost as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Above all else, he loved his family. Though he was known for his strength and determination, those who knew him best also knew he had a sentimental side and treasured the people he loved most.

A faithful member of Newbern Methodist Church, Brian's faith was an important part of his life. Easter held a special place in his heart. It was his favorite holiday, made even more meaningful because he became engaged on Easter and was later baptized on Easter, making the season a lasting reminder of faith, love, and new beginnings.

Sports were not simply a hobby for Brian—they were a lifelong passion. He possessed an incredible knowledge of the games he loved and spent countless hours coaching and mentoring young athletes. Football and baseball were his favorite sports, and some of his greatest joys came from coaching his two sons. For many years, he coached baseball in the Newbern Sports League and proudly led the Newbern Little League All-Stars to a State Championship. He also served as an assistant football coach at Northview Middle School for nine years.

Brian's love for sports was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the University of Hawaii. Family and friends could often hear him enthusiastically cheering—or occasionally yelling—at the television when his teams were playing. His passion for athletics even influenced his family, as he named his children after some of his favorite sports figures.

While sports played a major role in his life, Brian also enjoyed traveling, with Mexico being among his favorite destinations. Many of those memorable trips were shared with dear friends Greg and Chloe and their family, creating treasured memories that would last a lifetime.

Brian enjoyed the simple pleasures of life as well. He loved mowing his yard, spending time with family and friends, and challenging others to a game of "Name That Tune," a game at which he was remarkably skilled. He was known to have a stubborn streak, and if someone told him he couldn't do something, he was usually determined to prove them wrong.

His son described him as "strong, resilient, and smart"—qualities that defined Brian throughout his life. 

A Celebration of Life Service for Brian will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Newbern Methodist Church. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Newbern Methodist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Sandy Sawyer Peevyhouse of Newbern, Tennessee; two sons, Gannon Payne Peevyhouse of Newbern, Tennessee and Moxon Finch Peevyhouse of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Major Falon Peevyhouse of Newbern, Tennessee; his mother, Hilda Chipman Peevyhouse of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Jeremy Peevyhouse (Teri) of Newbern, Tennessee and he was "Uncle Brian" to his three nieces, Rylee, Marlee and Lucy and one nephew, Peyton.
