renda Starr Overbey, 77, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Friday, April 3, 2026, at her residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, April 20, 1948, in Madison County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Edward Ralph Overbey and the late Betty Lou Flippin Overbey.
Brenda will be remembered for her sweet spirit. She was a loving momma who cherished her family. She had a personality all her own and could be quite the character at times, bringing laughter and smiles wherever she went. Brenda was a great cook, and her kitchen often became a gathering place for family and friends. She was especially known for her homemade donuts, which she lovingly shared with neighbors. Brenda also had a well-known sweet tooth and enjoyed her ice cream. She was also crazy about the casinos. She loved to play the slot machines and always believed the next pull of the handle would be the one where she’d hear those bells chime and know she had hit it big. It was all part of her fun-loving spirit and the excitement she carried with her.
Funeral services for Mrs. Overbey will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Mr. William Bryant, Jr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, Bobby Hall (Sandra) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Harley Hall of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Gwendolyn Elaine Smith (Randy) of Collierville, Tennessee and Patricia Koutroulis of Versailles, Missouri; one brother, John Overbey of Jackson, Tennessee; seventeen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Overbey and Jimmy Overbey.
