Brenda Ruth Steward

Brenda Ruth Steward, 70, of Jackson, Tennessee, died on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, September 6, 1955, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late James Leroy Parrish and Laura Joan Irvin Stone.

Brenda will be remembered for her spunky personality, strong will, and the way she usually managed to get her way—with a smile and plenty of charm. She truly enjoyed being around people and had a way of making connections wherever she went.

Brenda worked as a truck driver, a career that reflected her independence, determination, and love for the open road. She took pride in her work and the life she built through it.

At home, Brenda was known as a wonderful cook. According to her son, no one could make brownies or blueberry muffins quite like she could. Those treats, made with love, will remain cherished memories for her family.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Steward will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday January 3, 2026, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Ronnie Turner. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by three sons, James Courtney Steward (Ana Carina) of Coldwater, Mississippi, Leon David Steward of Manila Philippines and Brad Steward of Coldwater, Mississippi;  her mother, Laura Joan Irvin Stone of Newbern, Tennessee; two brothers, James Lawrence Parrish (Joannie) of Newbern, Tennessee and Richard Parrish (Kris) of Germantown, Tennessee and she was "Grandmother Brenda to her five grandchildren, Hunter Steward, Savannah Steward, Cody Steward, Jack Steward and Hayden Holter.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy Parrish.
