Bobby Waller Obituary

Bobby Waller, 92 of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Okeena Health and Rehabilitation of Dyersburg in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Friday, May 5, 1933, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Albert Waller and Ora Mae McLaughlin Waller.

Bobby was a dedicated public servant and proud veteran, he devoted forty-three years of his life to law enforcement, beginning his career with the Dyer County Sheriff’s Department. He later served with the City of Dyersburg Police Department before returning to the Sheriff’s Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. His steady presence, leadership, and unwavering dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and the community alike. He served as Dyer County Constable for nine years.

Before beginning his law enforcement career, Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a chapter of his life he carried with deep pride.

Bobby was a true people person who never met a stranger. He valued the friendships he made throughout the years and always had a kind word or smile for those around him. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard, which he kept with care and attention

Graveside services for Mr. Waller will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Yorkville Cemetery. Officiating this service will be Bro. Perry Grills. Family and friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Viena  Malabonga Waller of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, Phillip Waller of Yorkville, Tennessee; two daughters, Renee Waller of Yorkville, Tennessee and Carol Galloway (Robert) of Yorkville, Tennessee; two step-sons, Robert Lopez of the Philippines and Brian Lopez of the United Kingdom; one step-daughter, Arlene Lopez Quing of the Philippines  and he was "PaPa Bobby" to his three grandchildren, Michael Work (Melissa), Britta Waller and Keaton Galloway and his six great-grandchildren, Addy Work, Allie Reed, Madison Work, Mason Work, Elijah Gibbs and Ella Walters and he also leaves a host of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Waller, Albert John Waller and Thomas Glenn Waller and three sisters, Betty Hopper, Joyce Myers and Ruby Alford.
