Betsy Alice Thurmond

Betsy Alice Thurmond, 71, of Bogota, Tennessee, passed on September 5, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Betsy was born on April 9, 1950, at Boothspoint, Tennessee to the late Homer and Juanita  Omega Joslin.  She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She was a Christian and a member of Independent Free Holiness Church.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Thurmond will be at 12:00 PM  on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 in Sorrell's Chapel Cemetery with Rev. Calvin Smith officiating.  Visitation for Mrs. Thurmond will be September 7, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Hinton Thurmond of Bogota, Tennessee;  two daughters, Cynthia Lucio of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Deborrah Cooper of Southaven, Mississippi; two sons: Chuck Thurmond and Steven Eugene Thurmond, both of Dyersburg, Tennessee;  grandchildren, Scott Pugh (Jennifer), Melanie Hammock, Eric Thurmond, Angel Thurmond (Randy), Kyle Thurmond, Craig Thurmond, Kimberly Thurmond, Brittany Thurmond, Anthony Sweat (Therese), Heather Alexander (Josh), Zachary Thurmond and Jasmine Cooper and  great- grandchildren:  Skylarr Sullivan, Caden Hankins, Kaely King, Zayden Grantham, Juniper Sweat and Jay Alexander.

In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her son, Charles Wayne Thurmond and her brothers, Walter Ronald Joslin and Luther David Joslin

Pallbearers will be her son, Chuck Thurmond, her grandsons, Scott Pugh, Eric Thurmond, and family friends, Jeff Wilson, Jamie Sweat and Jim Bobo.

The family asks that memorial contributions be  directed to the Independent Free Holiness Church, 1201 Upper Finley Road,  Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
