Mrs. Bessie Inez (Mallard) Burnett, known as Inez to her loved ones, passed away peacefully at home in Huntsville, Alabama on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the age of 97. Graveside services will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Rehoboth Cemetery. Visitation for Mrs. Burnett will be on Sunday, from 3:00 to 3:45 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home, 239 E Main St, Newbern, Tennessee 38059.
Born on June 21, 1922 and raised on a farm in RoEllen, Tennessee, She was the fourteenth of fifteen children. Mrs. Burnett moved to Flint, Michigan where she worked for General Motors, helping the cause of World War II, as a real Rosie the Riveter. Later moving to Granite City, Illinois, before finally moving to Huntsville, Alabama in 2001, to spend her final years with her immediate family, Pamela and Nathan. She was a member of the Eastern Star of the Masonic Order as well as a member of the Farley Church of Christ in Huntsville, Alabama. Mrs. Burnett also enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading the Bible and attending church. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survived by her daughter, Mrs. Pamela Sue (Burnett) Wienhoff and her grandson Nathan Wienhoff, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, she will be remembered fondly.
Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. John Mallard, Ms. Lilly (Ragan) Mallard, and 14 brothers and sisters; Mr. Thomas Mallard, Mr. Eulrus Mallard, (Unnamed Infant) Mallard, Ms. Eulean (Mallard) Harrell, Mr. Roy Mallard, Mr. Allen Gentry (Jake) Mallard, Mr. Martin Mallard, Mr. John (Massie) Mallard, Ms. Allie (Mallard) Obarr, Mr. J. L. Mallard, Mr. C. S. Mallard, Ms Norma (Mallard) Buchanan, Ms. Lois (Lavern) (Mallard) Tucker, Ms. Asilee (Kitty) Mallard.
