Bert Dewayne Allen Obituary

Bert Dewayne Allen, 73, of Tiptonville, Tennessee died on Monday, April 14, 2025, at his residence in Tiptonville, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, November 24, 1951, in Meade, Kansas, he was the son of the late Milton Valentine Allen and the late Annie Mae Allen.

Bert was a proud veteran, talented artist, and devoted outdoorsman, who is leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and quiet generosity. Bert served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps, carrying the values of discipline, dedication, and service throughout his life.

After his military service, he spent his working years as a welder for Garner and Huskins in North Little Rock, Arkansas, where his skilled hands and strong work ethic were highly respected.

But it was outside of work where Bert truly came to life. A passionate fisherman, he found his peace on the water, often casting a line with one of his own handmade lures—each crafted with care and freely gifted to friends and fellow anglers. His artistry didn’t stop at fishing lures. Bert was a gifted woodcarver, known especially for his striking totem poles that can still be seen standing tall around his beloved Reelfoot Lake—a place that held a special spot in his heart.

To know Bert was to know someone who found joy in simple things: the stillness of a lake at dawn, the satisfaction of creating something with his hands, and the fulfillment of giving to others without asking for anything in return.

Cremation services are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Charlotte Joyner Allen; three sons, James Seratt of Newbern, Tennessee, Chris Allen (Brittany) of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Michael Allen of Tampa, Florida; two daughters, Tiffany Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas and Sherry Yarbro of Alabama, one brother, Charles Allen of Missouri, one sister, Annie Howell (Dickie) of Kansas and a host of grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Allen.
