Benny Ellis Scarborough, 70, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Thursday, December 16, 1954, in Dyer, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Jesse C. Scarborough and the late Ava E. Thompson Scarbrough. Benny was born into a loving family as one of seven children, he grew up in a home filled with warmth, faith, and strong values—principles that he carried with him throughout his life.
For 38 beautiful years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Kathy, building a home full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He was an employee of PolyOne for 22 years, where his strong work ethic and ability to fix just about anything earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Mr. Scarbrough was a member of Yorkville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was a man whose presence could brighten any room, known for his infectious laughter that brought smiles to those around him. He leaves a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Above all, Benny cherished his family. He took great pride in his many grandchildren, especially Cody Herndon, whom he lovingly raised as his own., and he was "Pops" to Baby Girl Riley Herndon. His hands were never idle—whether repairing something for a loved one or simply offering a helping hand, he was the one everyone could count on. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness that will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Funeral services for Mr. Scarbrough will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Billy Tucker. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery in Yorkville, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Kathy Clark Scarbrough of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four sons, Larry Clark of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Chris Noel of Mississippi, Mark Noel (Connie) of Mississippi and Lynn Noel of Mississippi; one brother, Joe Scarborough (Martha) of Humboldt, Tennessee; two sisters, Marilyn Clifton of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Carolyn LaRoe (Dan) of Palestine, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Linda Scarborough of Three Way, Tennessee and Jessica Scarborough of Fort Worth , Texas: numerous beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family members who loved him dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Shellie Sipes; two brothers, Charles Scarbrough and Ronald Scarbrough and one sister, Rachel Cobb.
Honoring Mr. Scarborough was pallbearers will be Brent Sampson, Jimmy Sentell, Charlie Barron, Clark Reagan, Alec Jackson and David Allmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Rogers, Joe Butler and David Seat.
