Barbara A. Burzynski Mumme Obituary

Barbara A Burzynski Mumme left this earthly place Saturday evening, April 6, 2024. Though a lovely person has departed from us, Barbara is with her Father. No more pain or sickness. She is in the perfect life in her heavenly home.

Barbara was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 22, 1954, where she lived most of her life before moving to Dyer County in 1993. She was a property manager while in Chicago and took jobs as a painter to earn money needed to attend the College of DuPage and Emmaus Bible College. Her life will continue to echo with all who were blessed with her friendship.

Barbara loved her Lord and Savior, she loved her family, she loved her friends and those that cared for her health needs, she loved everyone at first sight. She never met a stranger and saw good in everyone. Barbara had a compassionate and forgiving heart. Barbara had a great sense of humor that she inherited from her Granddaddy Toss Weaver. She loved to laugh and bring smiles to those around her. In her youth, she traveled throughout the United States. She found pleasure working outside, cutting the grass, and building things. She enjoyed reading her Bible and Amish novels. She liked watching the old westerns on tv and could play a great game of canasta. Barbara was often called on to assist people needing help with their computer needs – she was a wiz diagnosing and resolving computer issues. She enjoyed lemon meringue pie (not to be confused with lemon ice box pie) and anything cherry flavor. She loved all animals but was particularly fond of Chihuahuas. She favored the slow jazz of Kenny G and the beauty of carnations.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM, Saturday, April 13, 2024, in the Chapel of Johnson- Williams Funeral Home, Newbern TN. Officiating this service will be Rev. James Calhoun and Rev Kenny Locke. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Newbern Fairview Cemetery. Along with her many friends, Barbara will be greatly missed by her family surviving her: Thomas Weaver of Hayti, Missouri, Billy Carl Weaver, Jr of Dresden, Tennessee, Dorothy Jean Weaver Chambers of Calvert City, Kentucky, Nettie Jean Weaver of Hayti, Missouri, and Jerry (Jennifer) Burzynski of Plainfield, Illinois. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Swader, Mart James, Alan Wilkes, Robert Blevins, Matt Johnson, and Jay Johnson.  Honorary pallbearer will be Bethany Wilkes Cobb.

She was preceded in death by Billy Carl Weaver, Sr, John J. Burzynski, Billy Joe Weaver, Baby Weaver, Terry Wayne Weaver, John and Pearl Burzynski, Richard Burzynski, Toss and Wilma Weaver, Ann Dodd, Mildred Sue Weaver, Raymond Weaver, Milton Weaver, David Weaver and Robert Weaver.

Barbara’s passing is sadly felt by all of those fortunate to have known her. As we remember her, we hold close her cherished Bible verse from Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” There have been so many who touched Barbara’s life through the years with kindness. On behalf of her family, many thanks and heartfelt gratitude is extended to the many healthcare professionals, her dear sweet friends, all those who loved her and to her caregiver, Helen Enochs.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Dyersburg Humane Society designated for the animal’s food and health care. Betty Parker/Tommy Lipford Humane Society, PO Box 223, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
