Anthony "Tony" Wade Hawks, Sr., 63, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Thursday, August 22, 1957 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Charlie Hawks and the late Glenda Stewart Blackwell. Mr. Hawks was an employee of Unilever in Covington, Tennessee and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. He enjoyed composing music, singing and playing the guitar.
Funeral services for Mr. Hawks will be 12:00 PM on Friday, June 4, 2021 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Julian Huey and Mr. John Carver. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-four years, Thelma Campbell Hawks of Newbern, Tennessee; one son, Anthony Hawks, Jr. (Jerrie) of RoEllen, Tennessee; two daughters, Shannon Hawks of Newbern, Tennessee and Amanda Morris of Hickman, Kentucky; step-mother, Ann Hawks of Dyersburg, Tennessee; step-father, Jesse Blackwell of Munford, Tennessee; four brothers, Charlie Hawks, II (Thomas) of Memphis, Tennessee, John Carver (Dina) of Covington, Tennessee, Douglas Carver, Sr (Kelly) of Covington, Tennessee and Lee Carver (Donna) of Millington, Tennessee; four sisters, Patricia Moore (Keith) of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Mary Butler of Newbern, Tennessee, Laura Rolley (Steve) of Graham, Kentucky and Lisa Dodd (Paul) of Adamsville, Alabama; he was "Pappy" to his six grandchildren, Brooke White (Josh), Heather Bertram, Gia Rhoad, Tanner Williams, Kimber Hoselton and Peyton Hawks and one great-grandson, Parker White.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Nelson.
Honoring Mr. Hawks as pallbearers will be Spencer Moore, B. J. Rouse, John Carver, Lee Carver, Doug Carver, Bo Butler, Brian Butler and Josh White.. Honorary pallbearers will be William Turnbo and Ronnie Webb.
