Annie Fern "Ann" Moody

Annie Fern "Ann" Moody, 92, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Monday, May 26, 2025, at her residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born on May 11, 1933, in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late William Winfrey and the late Beatrice A. Hutchison Winfrey.  Mrs. Moody was a former employee of All-Wear/Wrangler.

A woman of deep faith, Ann was a longtime member of Mt. Tirzah, where she touched many lives as a dedicated Sunday school teacher before moving her membership to Holy Hills in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Her love for her family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Ann had a passion for gardening, nurturing beautiful blooms and delicious homegrown vegetables. She was also known for her exceptional cooking, delighting family and friends with her famous cornbread, special banana pudding, and beloved biscuit pudding.

Hard work and generosity defined her life. She was never one to shy away from a task and always eager to lend a helping hand. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Moody will be held at 1:00 PM on May 29, 2025, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating the service will be Mr. Alan Burchfiel and Mr. Rick Brubaker. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-one years, Jimmy A. Moody of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, Robert Shields (Diane) of Collierville, Tennessee; four daughters, Dana Akers of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Sherry Reagan of Dyersburg, Tennessee, Charlotte Shields of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Nona Hayes (Richard) of Grant Park, Illinois and she was Nanny Granny to her eleven grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dan Winfrey.

Honoring Mrs. Moody as pallbearers will be William Akers, Josh Akers, Chris Kiser, Jimmy Akers, Richard Hayes, and Bruce Phillips.  Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Brubaker, Ronnie Tomzak, and Mark Brown.
