Alison Mitchell Copeland, 59, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2025, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 23, 1966, she was the daughter of the late Winston "Bill" Mitchell and Bonnie Louise McCalister Shelton. Alison was a beloved mother and the unwavering heart of her family. Known for her strength of spirit and boundless love, Alison was a rock for all who knew her—a constant source of comfort, guidance, and fierce devotion.
Alison's greatest pride and joy were her children, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—casting a line at the water’s edge, capturing moments with her camera, and finding beauty in the world around her. Whether it was an old, weathered barn or the ever-changing sky, she saw and preserved things others might overlook, reminding us to slow down and see the wonder in everyday life.
Cremation services for Mrs. Copeland are under the direction of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, Jimmy Wayne Robertson of Newbern, Tennessee and Matthew Dale Robertson of Memphis, Tennessee; her mother Bonnie Louise McCalister Shelton of Newbern, Tennessee; two brothers brother, Robert Earl Mitchell of Huntingdon Beach, California and Stephen Mitchell of Michigan; one sister, Angela Hope Ward of Newbern, Tennessee and she was "Grandma Ali" to her grandson, Chase Mitchell Robertson of Troy, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Dewayne Copeland, her father, Winston "Bill" Mitchell and one brother, Billy Winston Mitchell.
