1 SG Timothy Brian McCutchen Obituary

1SG Timothy Brian McCutchen (RET), 68, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at his residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, March 26, 1955, in Louisville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late William Hughel McCutchen and the late Mary Agnus Whistler McCutchen.  Mr. McCutchen proudly served his country in the United States Army for twenty-four years. He served his country during the Vietnam War.  After his retirement he was instrumental in starting the JROTC Program at Dyer County High School, where he worked for sixteen years. During this time he impacted the lives of many students and served as a positive role model for the children that he taught. He was also the owner of Dyersburg Trophy and Trophy Tans.  The times that he enjoyed the most were those spent with his family and students making memories.

Funeral services for 1SG McCutchen will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 18, 2023, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Pastor Jeff Hall.  Interment, with full military honors, will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Parker's Crossroads VA Cemetery located in Parker's Crossroads, Tennessee. Visitation for 1SG McCutchen will be held on Wednesday from 5:30 PM until 7:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Joshua McCutchen (Angela) of Loveland, Colorado; daughters, Samantha Etheridge (Thomas) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Chrystal Fox Hunter of Moberly, Missouri; his girlfriend, Janice Mickelson of Dyersburg, Tennessee and he was "Granddad" to his seven grandchildren, Laine Etheridge, Ethan Jones, MaKinley McCutchen, Sydney McCutchen, Zach Hunter, Dru Wilcox and Dalton Noel and one great-grandchild, Oliver Jones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alison (Tayler)McCutchen and two brothers, Phillip Hughel McCutchen and Alan McCutchen.

Family and friends will honor 1SG McCutchen as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be directed to the 1SG Timothy McCutchen Scholarship Fund, c/o First Citizens National Bank, 710 Highway 51 By-Pass West, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
