Zada Griffie Ludlow Russ, 88, of Nashville, Tennessee died on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Bristol Terrace Assisted Living Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born August 7, 1930 in Greenwood, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Charles Herbert Ludlow and the late Johnnie Belle Sibley Ludlow. She was a retired nurse for Dr. George McElroy in Newbern, Tennessee and served the United Methodist Church for over 50 years as the wife of Rev. Laurance S. Russ, Jr. (deceased 2003). Mrs. Russ was a member of Pennington Bend United Methodist Church in Nashville.
Funeral services for Mrs. Russ will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Zion United Methodist Church in Obion, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. Dr. Lloyd Doyle and Rev. Bud Alexander. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery in Obion, Tennessee. Visitation will be Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Zion United Methodist Church in Obion, Tennessee.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Stephen Russ (Linda) of New Bern, North Carolina and Charlie Russ (Syndi) of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; four daughters, Becky Hendren (Jimmy) of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Susan Dozier (James) of Obion, Tennessee, Sara Palmer (Chuck) of Trumann, Arkansas, and Mary Porter (David) of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, Herbie Ludlow (Regina) of Saucier, Mississippi; two sisters, Mary Noe of Biloxi, Mississippi and Jean Shields (Don) of Biloxi, Mississippi; two sisters-in-law Myrna Ludlow of Biloxi, Missisippi and Libby Williams of Minden, Nebraska; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony Ludlow and Buddy Ludlow, one sister, Anne Peyregne, and one great-grandchild Tyler Denson.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Russ, Blake Chadwick, Zachary Dozier, Jim Dozier, Michael Dozier, Alan Palmer, Nathan Palmer and Jeremy Porter. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hendren and Wesley Denson.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations can be made to Zion Cemetery Association 4893 Jim Carver Rd. Obion, TN 38240.
