Wallace E. Sexton, 77, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, September 10, 2018, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, October 22, 1940 in Round Lake, Florida, he was the son of the late Guilford Robert Sexton and the late Mary Ethel Welch Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a 1964 graduate of Memphis State University and was a member of the 1963 undefeated Memphis State Tiger Football Team. He served as director the Tennessee Technology Center of Newbern for forty one years and was a member of the Newbern First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services for Mr. Sexton will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Grace Cemetery in Ripley, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. James Combs. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Lynn Hargett Sexton of Newbern, Tennessee; three daughters, Sherry Sexton King (Mike), Kelli Leigh Sexton (Jimmy "Hen" Hendren) and Dana Sexton Johnson (Jay) all of Newbern, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Allexandria Pugh, Allyson Pugh, Savannah Williams, Adam Williams, Will Rushing, Nick Rushing, Maggie Johnson and Jaycob Johnson and one great-grandchild, Laila Watson
In addition to his parents he was preceded by one brother, Robert Cecil Sexton and three sisters, Yvonne Barber, Glenda Gray and Edith Locke.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Page, Mike Smith, Mark Pledge, Roger Page, Donald Pugh, Jarrell Thornton, David Via and Haskins Ridens.
