Virginia Gaye Hassell Allmon

Virginia Gaye Hassell Allmon, 68 of Yorkville, Tennessee died on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Born Friday, February 17, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Earl William Hassell and the late Virginia Clyde Carrell Hassell. Gaye retired from the State of Tennessee Technology Center in Newbern, Tennessee after 30 years of service. After her retirement she moved to Memphis to be close to her daughter, Jennifer, and began a new career in banking and insurance.

Back in 1994, Gaye decided to donate her body to the University of Tennessee at Memphis. But when her grandniece, Taylor Hassell, became a Pharmacy student at Union University, she changed her mind. In a letter to the University she wrote: She (Taylor) is an exceptional young person and so devoted to the Pharmacy Program. Her hard work and self discipline with her studies and her determination to be the "best" amazes me daily. I have put much thought into my decision and hope in some small way I can make a difference in the lives of young people going into the medical profession.

A celebration of life service for Gaye will be held at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Victor Hassell. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 4:30 PM until 5:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Jennifer Allmon; grand-dog, JoJo; one brother, Kenneth Hassell of Yorkville, Tennessee and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jamie Hassell, Buddy Hassell, Bobby Hassell, Bammie Jo Hassell, Gene Hassell, Jimmy Lon Hassell and Vicki Hassell.
