Shirley J. Mitchell

Shirley J. Mitchell, 77 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, June 7, 1941 in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Brumley Hinson and the late Jimmie Sue Pugh Hinson. She was a retired employee of Sylvania and Wal-Mart and a member of the RoEllen Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mitchell will be 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 18, 2018 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Kevin Sellers. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of fifty seven years, Erby T. Mitchell; one son, Kenneth Ray Mitchell (Crystal) of San Leon, Texas, one daughter, Connie Mitchell Proctor (John) of Springhill, Tennessee; one sister, Penny Sue O'Toole (William) of Clinton, Kentucky and three grandchildren, Brandon Lewis Mitchell (Olivia), Jeremy Keith Mitchell and Dr. Emerald Harrell (Adam).

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Ray Mitchell and four brothers, Jerry Don Hinson, Thomas Hinson, Bobby Hinson and Joe Hinson.

Pallbearers will be Clark Reagan, David Harris, Benny Leach, Ricky Warren, Gordon Edgin and Ralph Whitley, Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Pierce, Montie Rogers, Mike Bill, Carnell Allen and the caring staff of Kirkland Cancer Center.
