Ruth Ann Atnipp, 76, of Dyer, Tennessee died on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at Dyer Nursing Home in Dyer,Tennessee.
Born Monday, September 14, 1942, in Latham, Tennessee. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas Atnipp and the late Modell Bond Atnipp. At the age of thirteen, she went to live with her uncle, A.J.Bond and Aunt, Ruby Bond. In 1960 she graduated from Gleason High School and from Lambuth College on June 1, 1964. Ms. Atnipp worked in accounts receivable at Methodist Publishing House in Nashville, Tennessee from June 1964 thru December 1965, before starting her career with the Social Security Administration on January 3, 1966 and retired after 31 years of service on September 30, 1997. She was an active member of Lambuth Memorial Methodist Church for many years before moving to Dyer, Tennessee, where she became a member of Dyer First United Methodist Church. She was a member of National Active and Retired Federal Employee, and a member of Madison County Master Gardeners.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday February 1, 2019, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Randy Mutter. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Gleason,Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday, February 1, 2019, from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by one sister, Jennie L Lovell, one brother, Franklin M Atnipp; very close friends, Ricky & Kathy Whitson, Steven & Jennifer Whitson, Nettie Jean Cooper, Elizabeth McDonald and Diana Bradberry and special cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward B. Atnipp.
In lieu of flowers she requested that memorial contributions be made to the Dyer First United Methodist Church, 189 North Main Street, Dyer, Tennessee 38330 or to NARFE or the Alzheimer's Association , 225 North Michigan Avenue, 17the Floor, Chicago, Illinois 60601.
