Richard Edward Wells

Richard Edward Wells, 46, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson,Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, November 16, 1971, in Bellville, Illinois. Mr. Wells was the Resource Officer for the Dyer County Sheriff Department at Dyer County High School, a former member of the Dyer County Rescue Squad, and former CERT at North West Correction Complex .

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Friday, October 5, 2018, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Scottey Cravins. Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Cravins Wells of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one daughter, Breanna "Haley" Wells of Dyersburg, Tennessee; one son, Zakkary "Bubba" Wells (Mackenzie) of Newbern, Tennessee; his birth father, Terry Bernard Hughes of Elkton, Kentucky; one sister, Shannon Hughes Grady of Summerville, South Carolina; two brothers, Terry Hughes, Jr. of Lebanon, Illinois and John Odle of Leechville, Illinois; three grandchildren, Lucas Henley Essary, Laken Eleanor - Ann Roy and soon to join the family Ave Lee Wells.

He was preceded in death by his parents who raised him, Richard Eugene Wells and Joyce Ann Hooker Wells and one brother, Cody Hughes.

Honorary pallbearers will be Monty Essary, Eric Wells, Sam Bell, Charles "Chip" Cain, Heath Walker, Terry Hughes, John Odle, Kenny Gibbons and Adam Fisher.

The family ask that memorial contributions be directed to the Special Education Programs of the Dyer County School System, 159 Everett Avenue, Dyersburg, Tennessee 38024.
