Meddie Moss Montgomery, 93, of Dyersburg, departed this life and went to her heavenly home on October 29, 2019 after a brief illness.
Born February 3, 1926 in Dyersburg, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Angie Moss. She was a homemaker (raising five children), working on their farm. Also, worked at Dyersburg Fabrics, All Wear, DeLoach's Shoes, and Shaklee Distributor.
She had a heart that served God and accepted Jesus at a very young age with ultimate faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a faithful Christian and a dedicated member of Cornerstone Church of God, where she taught Sunday School.
She left a legacy of faith to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends who are thankful for her love and blessed to know her.
A celebration of life for Meddie will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Cornerstone Church of God on Lake Road with the Rev. O. L. Hart and Dr. Randy Turpin officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, November 1, and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Church of God on Lake Road. Johnson-Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include: her daughter, Pat Sanders and husband Jerone of Dyersburg; two sons, Johnny Anderson and wife Debra of Clarksville; Joel Anderson of Dyersburg; daughter-in-law Diane Anderson of Dyersburg. Grandchildren: Cody Anderson, Tisa Reasons and husband Russell. Step-grandchildren: Dewayne and Lori Ann Adams. Great-grandchildren: Jenna Claire Anderson, Kaitlyn Permenter and husband Michael, one great great-grandson Greyson Steele Permenter. One brother: Paul Tom Moss and wife Mary Jo of Dyersburg,
She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Montgomery; and two sons, Calvin Anderson, Jr. and Danny Anderson; her parents and three brothers, Edward Moss, Leonard Moss and George Moss.
Pallbearers for the service will be Paul Moss, Leonard Moss, Michael Permenter, Russell Reasons, Tim Enochs and James "Sonny" Davidson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob House, Joe Hayden, J. B. Enochs, Charles Rice and Robert Lindley.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Stephanie Hamm with Amedisys Home Health Care for the love and care that was extended for several months. The family would like to thank Avalon Hospice for taking such good care of Meddie during her brief illness.
