Martha Newsom Hancock

Martha Newsom Hancock, 87 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Wednesday, August 20, 1930 in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Charles William Newsom and the late Liddie Mozelle Stover Newsom. She was a retired employee of United States Steel in Gary, Indiana and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hancock will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Patrick Williams. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2018 from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by one brother, David Lincoln Newsom of Newbern, Tennessee; twenty nieces and nephews; multitudes of great and great-great nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Tommy and Dria Richards of Dyersburg, Tennessee.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Kent W. Hancock; one son, Barry Wayne Hancock; four brothers, Jacob Aster Newsom, William Sullivan Newsome, John Everett Newsom and Elvin Dale "Bronco" Newsom and one sister, Geneva E. Newsom Gilliland.

Pallbearers will be Theron Gean, Ryan Gean, Doug Cook, Wallace Kennedy, Randy Newsome and Hugh Allen.
