Leon Hardin Obituary

Leon Hardin, 85 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Friday, January 18, 2019, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Sunday, February 12, 1933, he was delivered by his father, Roy Hardin on the Hardin Farm located in the Millsfield Community. Mr. Hardin was the owner of the City Market Grocery, Newbern Shoe Store and established Mom's Buffett. Since 1996, he had been employed at D & D Shoe Company in Mayfield, Kentucky. He was a member and deacon of the Newbern Christian Church, former member of the Newbern Lion's Club,member of the Newbern Moose Lodge, proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a well know artist of Reelfoot Lake landscapes.

Funeral services for Mr. Hardin will be 1:00 PM on Monday, January 21, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Tommy McDonald. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Hardin of Newbern, Tennessee and Keith Hardin (Deana) of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Amanda Leach of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, David Hardin (Lucy) of Aurora, Kentucky; one sister, Shirley Rich (George) of Germantown, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Amy Farrow, Jennifer Burns, Trey Hardin and Jordan Hardin; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his caregiver while in Mayfield, Kentucky, LaRissa Cornett and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Summers Hardin, his parents, Roy and Ruthie Mae Wyatt Hardin; one sister, Janette Hardin and one brother, Larry Hardin.

Pallbearers will be Tim Hardin, Mike Hardin, Jimmy Winchester, Lamar Hardin, Mike Lemons, Terry McGuire, David Hardin and Anthony Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Foster, Bill Berry, George Cottrell, Cherry Davis and Carroll Shelton.
