Lela Bell Stafford, 94,of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, June 27, 2019, at West Tennessee Healthcare-Dyersburg Hospital in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born, March 18, 1925 in Dyer County, Tennessee to the late Toy Sawyer and the late Etta Mae Arendell Sawyer. Mrs. Stafford was a retired employee of Brown Shoe Company and member of the Nebo Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stafford will be 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Carl Southerland. Interment will follow in Yorkville Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:30 AM until 1:00 at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by four sons, Larry Gene Stafford (Evelyn) of Trenton, Tennessee, Jimmie Wayne Stafford (Kathy) of Reagan, Tennessee, J. R. Stafford (Pam) of Paris, Tennessee and Roger Dale Stafford (Cecelia) of Trenton, Tennessee; one daughter, Carolyn Jackson (Tim) of Ridgely, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Stafford, one son, Billy Ray Stafford; five brothers, Buddy Sawyer, Jim Sawyer, Will Sawyer, Doc Sawyer and Raymond Sawyer and five sisters,Lucille Stevens, Virginia Hall Goff, Mandy Hatch, Beulah Pounders and Mary Nails.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Stafford, Braden Moore, David Hall, Shaun Hawks, William Stafford and Timothy Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Gene Stafford, Jimmie Wayne Stafford, J. R. Stafford, Roger Dale Stafford and Bubba Ozment.
