Joyce Ann (Austin) Carpenter

Joyce Ann Austin Carpenter, 86, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, October 21, 2019, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Monday, November 28, 1932 in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late L. M. Austin and the late Evelyn Rebecca Zarecor Austin.

She was a home-maker and retired teacher from Dyer County High School. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of the Trimble First Baptist Church and a former member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carpenter will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Perry Grills. Interment will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of seventy one years, Glen Carpenter of Newbern, Tennessee; one daughter, Andrea Claire Carpenter (Greg Davis) of Sharon, Tennessee; two brothers, Gene Austin (Carolyn) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Bobby Austin (Betty) of Eddyville, Kentucky; one, sister, Jo Evelyn Mehr (Mendel) of Brentwood, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Chad Wilson of Newbern, Tennessee, Neil Flowers (Katie) of Cedar City, Utah, Dallas Flowers (Cayla) of Newbern, Tennessee and Ania Claire Carpenter of Newbern, Tennessee and five great grandchildren, Allison Brooke Wilson of Newbern, Tennessee, Kaylee Elizabeth Wilson of Cleveland, Texas, Dani Lynne Carpenter Moore of Newbern, Tennessee, Cooper Layne Flowers of Newbern, Tennessee and Waylon Edward Flowers of Cedar City, Utah.

Pallbearers will be Neil Flowers, Dallas Flowers, Greg Davis Derrick Hanks, Danny Carpenter and Bob Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Ray Fagan, Richard Flatt, Alan Sims, Keith Sims and Scott Davis.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Monica Fagan, Linda Butler, Janet Stallings, Tammy Burnett and Lisa Hollis for the love and care that they extended to them over the past nine months.
