John Douglas "Doug" Crosby, 83, of Trimble, Tennessee died on Friday, November 15, 2019, at his residence in Trimble, Tennessee.
Born Friday, August 21, 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Alver M. Crosby and the late Mary Smith Crosby Baxter. While attending Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee, he was named to the All Memphis Football Team, Honorable Mention All-State and Catholic All-American Football Team. Mr. Crosby retired from the Memphis Police Department with the rank of Sergeant and proudly served his country in the United States Navy-Submarine Fleet during the Korean War. He was a member of Trimble First Baptist Church, Fraternal Order of Police , American Legion and was a faithful fan of the Tennessee Vols.
Funeral services for Mr. Crosby will be 11:00 AM on Monday, November 18, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Dr. Bill Oakley. Interment will follow in Pierce Cemetery in Trimble, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by four daughters, Ellen Crosby of Nashville, Tennessee, Karen Crosby Leone (Joe) of Memphis, Tennessee, Susan Crosby Wilkinson of Memphis, Tennessee and Katye Crosby of Coldwater, Mississippi; his companion, Nancy Lambert of Trimble, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Susan Copeland of Bartlett, Tennessee; two step sons, Steve French of Bartlett, Tennessee and Scott French of Cordova, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Crosby; one son, Doug Crosby and one step-daughter, Sherry Patil.
Pallbearers will be Travis Leach, Alex Wilkinson, Joe Leone, Steve French, Richard Park and Jerry Maupin.
