Jesse Lloyd Powers, 77 of Trimble, Tennessee died on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville,Tennessee.
Born Saturday, September 6, 1941, in Atwood, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Johnny Granville Powers and the late Mamie Dee Gateley Powers. Jesse coached Trimble Demon basketball for thirty years. He was passionate about the game and loved his role as coach and teacher. After his retirement in 1994, he farmed with Parks Farms.
Celebration of life services for Mr. Powers will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 15, 2018, in the gym of Trimble School. Officiating this service will be Bro. Dewayne Thomas. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Lydia Wiseman Powers of Trimble, Tennessee; two sons, Billy Matt Powers (Jill) of Newbern, Tennessee and David Fountaine of Jackson; one daughter, Jessica Powers of Obion, Tennessee; two step daughters, Mandi Gilliland (Brent) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Brandi Duke (Ryan) of Clinton, Kentucky and eleven grandchildren, Brandon, Grant ,Ross, Ashton, Nadalyn,
Bubba, Kaydence, Levi, Abbi, Jonah and Georgia.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Joyce Ann Flowers; two brothers, James Landon Powers and Joe David Powers; and one grandson, Matthew Grant Parker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ring, David Ring, Terry Mooney, Eddie Ray Fagan and Bobby LaRue.
