Jerry Lynn Whittle, 73, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, died on Sunday October 20, 2019 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee, due to a sudden coronary occurrence.
Jerry was born Monday, December 10, 1945, the son of the late Homer and Mildred Whittle,
Mr. Whittle was a former employee of Frazier Roofing, Sylvania Manufacturing, Oldberg Manufacturing, Riggs Supply Company and he retired from Dyersburg Piano Company. He also proudly served in the National Guard with an honorable discharge as a rifle marksman. Mr. Whittle was an avid knife collector and custom knife maker and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture.
He was a Christian and former member of Fowlkes Baptist Church with his current membership at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Whittle will be 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Reverend Lynn King and Reverend Gary Durham. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-seven years, Coleen Whittle, one daughter Tina McNutt (Jeremy) of Trimble, Tennessee; one son, Brad Whittle (Katie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was a loving "PawPaw" to two granddaughters, Ally Cavness and Sadie Whittle and one grandson, Diezel Whittle and three step grandsons, Tyler McNutt, Dylan McNutt and Spencer McNutt.
He is also also survived by two sisters, Brenda Beasley (Gary), Gail Cook (Paul) and a twin-brother, Jimmie Whittle (Celia) all of the Dyersburg area. Mr. Whittle also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Whittle was preceded in death by his father, Homer Whittle,his mother, Mildred Whittle, a sister, Joann Whittle Garrison, and a brother, Bruce Whittle.
The family would like to acknowledge and appreciate the hard work by the Dyersburg Fire Department First Responders and the Dyersburg Ambulance Service Responders, West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital Emergency Room and Jackson-Madison County General Hospital Coronary Care Unit.
