Jere N. Ellis

Jere Neil Ellis, 80 of Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee died on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at his residence in Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee. 

Born Friday, June 24, 1938 in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late C. T. Ellis and the late Mary Evelyn Weeks Ellis. He was a prominent business man in Dyer County, Tennessee for many years. Mr. Ellis was a member of Church Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Ellis served on the Board of Directors for Main Street Tiptonville for many years. An avid collector of Native American art, he served on the board of the Indian Art Festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was proud to be an honorary member of the Hopi Indian Tribe in Hopi, Arizona. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. 

A celebration of life service for Mr. Ellis will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Church Grove Baptist Church. Officiating this service will be Rev. Ronnie Turner. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Church Grove Baptist Church. 

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Lay Ellis of Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee; one son, William Dalton Osborne (Nikki) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Suzie Ellis Morris (Brad) of Mayfield, Kentucky and Kodi Danielle Spain of Reelfoot Lake, Tennessee; six grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren. his beloved Yorkie, Gabby Hayes and four grand-dogs. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Jere Martin Ellis. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Fisher, Marty Taylor, Dalton Osborne, Jim Gray, Kevin Campbell, Tony Lay, Jerry Criswell, Kenny Fowler, Skip Rowell, Thomas Leonard and Walter Wilkerson.
