James Lee "Murph" Murphy , 59 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Signature Health in Ridgely, Tennessee.
Born Friday, September 9, 1960, in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Leslie "Andy" Murphy and the late Hazel Threlkeld Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a retired employee of the City of Dyersburg and the former director of the Dyer County Rescue Squad.
Funeral services for Mr. Murphy will be 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Donnie Crone. Interment will follow in Church Grove Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Murphy will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by one son, Drew Murphy (Frances) of Boca Raton, Florida; two daughters, Tabatha Murphy (Carl) of Union City, Tennessee and Gina Hudkins (Will) of Newbern, Tennessee; chosen brother, William McDonald (Mary) of Newbern, Tennessee; special niece, Katrina Blackwood (Charlie) of Nashville, Tennessee and twelve grandchildren, Charles Jacob, Ashton, Peyton, Anne Marie, Elyse, Ava, Lia, Will, Levi, Isaac, Mason and Aubrey.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Marie Murphy.
Pallbearers will be Mike McCullouch, Brittany Baker, Brett McDonald, Carl Hammond, Will Hudkins, Charlie Blackwood, Aaron Brezenski and Zack Ellington. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Ellington, Garrett Ellington and Kobe King.
