Harold "Wimpy" McKee Obituary

Harold "Wimpy" McKee, 86 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.

Born Saturday, February 6, 1932 in Newbern, Tennessee. He was the son of the late John Nevins McKee and the late Vera Agnes Tase McKee. In 1950 Mr. McKee graduated from Newbern High School and in 1964 he received his Master's Degree from Memphis State University. Mr. McKee was a retired educator; serving in the Shelby County School System from 1958 until 1973. He later served as superintendent for Fayette Academy in Somerville, Tennessee, principal for Lake County High School, principal for Halls Junior High School and as an evaluator for the State of Tennessee Department of Education Career Ladder Program. Upon his retirement from education he served as a rural mail carrier for the United States Post Office. Mr. McKee also proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Graveside services for Mr. McKee will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Bro. Jon Morris. Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home

He is survived by one son, Jeffrey Edward McKee of Newbern, Tennessee; two daughters, Kristy Counce of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Kathy Newman of Newbern, Tennessee; two grand-daughters, Kari Smothers Clark (Matt) and Kelsy Newman and one great-grandchild, Kaden Newman.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty six years, Rose Carolyn Gibbons McKee; one son, Stephen Wayne McKee; one son-in-law, James Counce, Jr., three brothers, James McKee, Raymond McKee and Horace McKee and four sisters, Louise Autry, Opal McKee, Lorene Wilson and Lagreda Roberts.
