Emily Ruth Clay Watson

Emily Ruth Clay Watson, 89 of RoEllen, Tennessee died on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at her residence in RoEllen, Tennessee.

Born Sunday, May 13, 1928, in RoEllen, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Dudley Clay and the late Vivian Featherston Clay. "Miss Emily" retired from Newbern Elementary School after teaching first grade and third grade for many years. She was a lifelong member of RoEllen Baptist Church, former member of the Dyersburg Pilot Club, National Education Association, Tennessee Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

Graveside services for Mrs. Watson will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee with Patrick Williams officiating. Friends are asked to gather at the cemetery.

She is survived by one sister, Peggy Clay Serio of Roellen, Tennessee, a nephew, William Anthony Serio of RoEllen, Tennessee; one niece, Carla Curran of Kingman, Arizona and a great-nephew, Sean Curran of Tuscon, Arizona.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, J. B. Watson ; one sister, Annie Lee "Miss Ann" Clay and one brother-in-law, Jesse Anthony Serio.

The family ask that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to made to the charity of the donor's choice.
