David J. Walker, 74 of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, August 16, 1944 in Dyer County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Elvert Nelson Walker and the late Nina May Roberts Walker. He was the retired produce manager for Kroger in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Mr. Walker served on the Forked Deere Electric Cooperative Board of Directors for eighteen years and was presently serving as Secretary and Treasurer. He was a faithful member of the Glendale Church of Christ. Mr. Walker proudly served his community for sixteen years as a Dyer County Commissioner.
Funeral services for Mr. Walker will be 11:00 AM on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Glendale Church of Christ. Officiating this service will be Bro. Serge Shoemaker, Bro. John Stacy and Mr. Mark Johnston. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Glendale Church of Christ.
He is survived by three sons, Shannon Walker (Danna) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; Heath Walker (Tesha) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Cody Walker (Heather) of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, Larry Walker of Newbern, Tennessee; two sisters, Audrey Lemons of Atlanta, Georgia and Charlene Musser of Gulf Breeze, Florida; eight grandchildren, Heath Walker, II, Mackenzie Wells, Garrett Walker, Caleb Walker, Peyton Walker, Macye Walker, Eli Walker and Ellie Walker; one great-grandchild, Bentley Walker and soon to join the family, one great-grand-daughter, Ava Lee Wells.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Kaye Harris Walker; three brothers, Travis Walker, Billy Wayne Walker and Bobby Joe Walker and three sisters, Valera Kemp, Peggy Hedrick and Dolly Eubanks.
Pallbearers will be Heath Walker, II, Caleb Walker, Garrett Walker, Daniel Walker, Peyton Walker, Eli Walker, Jeremy Walker and Bryan Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be the Board of Directors of the Forked Deere Electric Cooperative, Jeff Newman, Mark Johnston, Richard Hill, Jeff Jones, Lyndell Carter and Jamie Moody.
