David Allen Kent

David Allen Kent, 67, of Dyersburg, Tennessee died on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Memphis VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Born Wednesday, December 5, 1951 in Ripley, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Allen Kent and Mary Hampton Arwood. He was a retired truck driver, member of the Dyersburg Civitan Club and former member of the American Legion. He was a disabled Veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War.

Funeral services for Mr. Kent will be 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Michael Wilson. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Kent of Dyersburg, Tennessee; two sons, Joey Kent of Arizona and Robert Hodge (Jeannie) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; three daughters, Amy Kent (J. P.) of Millington, Tennessee, Lori Simpson (Steven) of Newbern, Tennessee and Rebecca Savage (Shane) of Covington, Georgia; his mother, Mary Hampton Arwood of Ripley, Tennessee; two sisters, Ruth Fullen (Tim) of Ripley, Tennessee and Donna Davis (Tracy) of Ripley, Tennessee; fifteen grand children and sixteen great-grand children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Kent and his step-father, Schaffer Arwood.

Pallbearers will be Josh Pounders, Xavier Newby, Houston Newby, Zachary Hodge, Jessie Simpson, Craig Davis, Tavian Robertson and Jessie Bradford.
