Barbara Pledge

Barbara Pledge, 77, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Born Friday, December 12, 1941 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Lester Smith and the late Melissa Pauline Paschall Smith. Mrs. Pledge was a retired employee of the Dyer County School System where she served as the secretary for Fifth Consolidated School for forty two years. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church and a member of Lock's Store "Tuesday Night Supper Club".

Funeral services for Mrs. Pledge will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Bill Phipps. Interment will follow in Zion Cemetery in Elbridge, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-seven years, Terry Pledge of Newbern, Tennessee; two daughters, Sherry Pledge Watson (Darin) of Dyersburg, Tennessee and Rhonda Pledge Wright (Jeff) of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Kayla Wright, Regan Watson, Hannah Wright and Noah Watson and a niece, Pat Smith, who was raised as her sister.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, L. B. Smith, Bobby Gene Smith and Dennis Wayne Smith and one sister, Margaret Marie Smith Jones.

Pallbearers will be Darin Watson, Jeff Wright, Noah Watson, Bart Sanders, Kevin Sanders and Will Click.
